8/8/2014 0 Comments Those blasted trolls!!! We all gnew that revealing our Magical Vault to the humans was risky. We gnew it would reduce our protection against trolls. What we didn't realize was that, although we are more exposed to trolls now, we have humans helping us!
This week a blasted troll tried to break into the vault again. He was able to tear a small piece of the protection lock off it. But his attempt was THWARTED by a kind-hearted human, who appeared out of nowhere - startled the troll, who dropped the lock and bolted for the hills. The human picked up the broken piece of lock, brought it into the Cashmere Valley Bank lobby and the staff there was nice enough to get the piece back to us, the Gnomes of Cashmere! Our experiment is working!! We love humans!!

8/3/2014 0 Comments Calling all Humans! A third door has been revealed! This one is at the venerable Gnome Valley Bank (back entrance). In addition to their already revealed Magical Vault of Everything, the Jenssons have bravely decided to also reveal their Safely Deposit Box Vault Door. They figured the reveal would be good advertising as they're running a special on the boxes this month - they're free to rent as usual, but if you rent one during the month of August, you'll receive a year's subscription to the Gnome Valley Record gnewspaper! What a deal!! And they think it'll show those trolls a valuable lesson: Hallo Trolls! We're not afraid of you!!!
8/2/2014 0 Comments Trolls or Humans??? Oh the drama! Yesterday was such an exciting day. Torgen and Thelma Jensson, after much deliberation, agreed to reveal to humans the door to the Magical Vault of Everything. So just before a late bedtime for them (around 9am), they removed the invisible spell from the door and *Presto* it could be seen by all humans. THEN! In the wee hours of afternoon, while all gnomes in the valley were sound asleep, someone tried to break into the vault!!! Of course, we immediately suspected the Nahahum Troll Klan, because they have certainly tried to break in before (the last time they tried they broke the concrete below the left corner of the door). But, alas, we think it might have been just a well-meaning and curious human who had probably never seen a gnome door before and so tried to open it.
We learned a very valuable lesson through this experience. It turns out that gnome protect spells don't protect gnomes or their things from humans. It's been a bit of a shocker for the community to realize this. It appears that humans are the only creatures against whom gnomes do not have natural protective abilities. We really hope this experiment to reveal our doors doesn't result in our destruction. But if it does, we will have no regrets. It was time for the humans to gnow we are here and we care about them. Hopefully, they will care about us in return. p.s. we fixed the door & put up some extra protection and an alarm box.! Yeah for Teodor & Milly Jensson (Torgen & Thelma's children). They worked all through Friday night and stayed up 1/2 of Saturday to complete the repairs. Hopefully that'll do the trick, at least for a while anyway. That vault door is awfully old. Perhaps it needS to be replaced. *sigh* nothing last forever I guess...including magical vaults of everything! 8/1/2014 0 Comments Oh Ulrik! Oh Ulrik! Oh, Ulrik! You're my hero! OF COURSE, you would be the first brave gnome to reveal your door to the humans. You were always SOOOO brave (and handsome)! Just teasing! You know I love you. Hats off to Maynard too! Maynard, I know you're the real brains behind the Gnome Hardware operation (and having to always put up with ol' Strike. Poor you!.
7/30/2014 0 Comments Here we go! Oh! This has been such a long time in coming (even for a gnome). FINALLY, FINALLY all is in place for what may be the most exciting day of my life! After what seems a lifetime (but CLEARLY isn't, since it certainly didn't take 375 years), our little gnome community in Gnome Valley is ready to unveil itself to the humans!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to see what transpires. Hopefully, something. It would be such a sad tale if, after all the discussions, negotiations, concerns, doubts and worries about our decision to uncloak some of our entrances and share some of our stories, nothing happened!
My hope for this project (which, it's probably fair to say, was my idea but was NOT very popular at first) is that by unveiling ourselves to our human neighbors in Cashmere WA we learn from each other, enjoy each other and help one another make this little slice of the world we call home an even happier and joy-filled place (which would be no small feat - Cashmere WA and Gnome Valley are pretty darn nice places already!). Hats off to the humans I have lived among and watched for so very long! Hats off! Hats off! And a big, big, big, grand "HALLO!" from THE GNOMES OF CASHMERE!!!! |
